Case of Hepatitis B Cured with Homoeopathy

Case History

A young guy aged 23 years presented the loss of appetite, thirstlessness with recurrent right hypochondriac pains. General weakness with pain in soles. He was passing yellow urine and offensive sweats. Diagnosed with LFT and HBsAg screening to be a typical case of Hepatitis B.

H/o Present illness 

He had yellow nails and eyes. Secretions dark yellow. Hurried, angered easily, worried and irritable.

Past History

H/O B/L Renal calculi, Dengue, Epistaxis

Family History

Not remarkable

Physical Generals

The liver is responsible for some 500 bodily functions. It plays a role in digestion, sugar and fat metabolism, and the body’s immune defense. It processes almost everything a person eats, breathes, or absorbs though the skin.

About 90% of the body’s nutrients pass through the liver from the intestines. The liver converts food into energy, stores nutrients, and produces blood proteins. The liver also acts as a filter to remove pathogens and toxins from the blood. In the developing fetus, blood cells are produced in the liver.

 

Appetite – Low               

Thirst - Low    

Stool – Two times a day,

Sweat – Offensive

Sleep - Normal           

Food Habits - Non Vegetarian

Desire: Sweets, fats, spices and milk.

Mental Generals 

Mental state of patient was very anxious, hurried and weeping on slightest sympathy. Desire to be alone.

People with severe liver damage may also develop ascites (fluid accumulation in the abdomen), edema (swelling, especially in the legs and ankles), and kidney damage. If the liver is unable to filter out toxins and metabolic by products such as ammonia, these chemicals may build up in the blood, leading to impaired mental functioning, personality changes, and (in severe cases) coma. People with long-term liver damage may also develop liver cancer.

Cirrhosis and chronic liver failure are leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the United States, with the majority of preventable cases attributed to excessive alcohol consumption, viral hepatitis, or nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.

 

Cirrhosis often is an indolent disease; most patients remain asymptomatic until the occurrence of decompensation, characterized by ascites, spontaneous bacterial peritonitis, hepatic encephalopathy, or variceal bleeding from portal hypertension.
