Hashimoto's Thyroiditis Versus Hypothyroidism and The Difference In Treating Them With Homeopathic Medicines

Hashimoto's disease, sometimes known as Hashimoto's thyroiditis, autoimmune thyroiditis or chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis is an autoimmune disease. In Hashimoto's, antibodies react against proteins in the thyroid gland, causing gradual destruction of the gland itself and making the gland unable to produce the thyroid hormones the body needs.

Hypothyroidism or underactive thyroid develops when the thyroid gland fails to produce or secrete as much thyroxine (T₄) as the body needs. Because T₄ regulates such essential functions as heart rate, digestion, physical growth, and mental development, an insufficient supply of this hormone can slow life-sustaining processes, damage organs and tissues in every part of the body, and lead to life-threatening complications.

I want to discuss what are the medicines used in homeopathy for Hashimato's disease and hypothyroidism? Does the antibody titre falls by homeopathic medicines?

In Homeopathy it is the clinical symptoms and signs of the individual patient which determine the curative remedy. We do not prescribe on disease names.

Dear Dr Hans,

You are right but the patients get convinced when they see a fall in their antibody titres and thyroid levels. I wanted to know whether these levels fall by giving homeopathic medicines and what medicines are commonly used for the same.

Homeopathic medicine can cure this type of case. Hashimoto is an autoimmune disease, so we must consider the miasm behind the disease and the person who is in disease is consider, so we can elicit remedy.

As I have observed, generally all the Calcarea remedies have a thyroid diathesis especially the Calc Carb. Obviously the patient’s symptom totality have to taken into consideration for accurate prescribing and from Calcarea family Calc iodatum often helps because of iodide stimulation to the thyroid. Talking of miasmatic consideration Syphilis appears to the miasm acting behind Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.

I think it is syco-syphilitic-because antibody because the gradual destruction of the gland and it's inability to produce hormone.

It is welcome to get to talk about such questions. When we practice homeopathy as holistic medicine we will not stick in to such disease oriented names. It is only dealt with upon clinical symptoms and signs. But another question arises, what will we do when pathological symptoms arise like this hashimottos, or hypothyroidism, we will practice homeopathic medicine on them also. Do we? Yes we do.
