The New York Times has designed their paper to create a section on Health.
They do mention family history of allergies, such as hay fever (allergic rhinitis) or eczema. While other sufferers have no history of allergies. How does a homeopath explain these differences?

In this way, they are developing resource material for the search engines to bring people surfing for answers on all conditions and diseases.
For instance, there is a section on ASTHMA
First they provide the definition: Asthma is an inflammatory disorder of the airways, which causes attacks of wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing.
They continue with What Are The Causes of Asthma. What they provide are the typical "Triggers." These are not the causes. Some important triggers include, aspirin and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) which provoke asthma in some patients.
And, their health recommendations for prevention is to remove the Triggers, the things that people may be sensitive to, which set off the cycle of respiratory symptoms and ailments.
No where is homeopathy mentioned as an approach to healing.

"The exact cause of asthma is unknown. Asthma is most likely caused by a combination of genetic (inherited) factors and environmental triggers (such as allergens and infections). Asthma tends to run in families, so children whose parents have asthma are more likely to develop it themselves."
Unfortunately, people reading these reports will find out, "There is no cure for asthma, although symptoms sometimes improve over time. With proper self management and medical treatment, most people with asthma can lead normal lives."
My hope is that one day soon, homeopathy will be an approved form of medicine with many well trained providers and hospitals to care for chronic disease sufferers. Asthma is another disease at epidemic proportions with more children being effected each year.
Dysfunctional family environments also contribute to asthma.

Well, Ernst and Singh in they book "Trick or Treatment" specifically mention the trial of White which says that there was no significant difference between homeopathy and placebo in young patients with asthma after 12 months of treatment by "experienced practitioners". They omit, however, to say that the homeopathy group has shown a slight decrease in intensity of the attacks... And also they do not consider how difficult it is to treat patients that receive conventional treatment...
Yet, everyone now cites this book and this study, so unless a new study appears showing otherwise... I wonder if our Indian and South American colleagues are not better placed to undertake such studies?

Dear Elena. Thank you for contributing to this discussion. Perhaps if we have many successful individual studies on asthma, where it is shown that the sufferers no longer have the intense sensitivities that trigger asthmatic attacks there would be a body of knowledge to build the case for homeopathy.
