Creating Waves of Awareness
JULY NEWS |
H:MC21 Lobby of Parliament on 4th July 2012 at 4pm outside House of Commons
David Tredinnick MP and John McDonnell MP will be there to welcome homeopathic practitioners.
We have set the time for 4 p.m. because there will be another group lobbying earlier in the afternoon, and we want to give them some time to see their MPs before we start.
Please write to your MP to say that you are coming to see them, and make sure that you give your name, address and postcode to show that you are one of their constituents.
This issue is not just about homeopathy but about defending choice in medicine. If a safe medicine used by 10% of the UK population can be made impossible to access, then other treatments will follow.
Please take action before the end of the month.

Your Access to Homoeopathy is Under Threat
Why this is important?
The The Medicines Act of 1968 simplification process will remove duplication of material. However, this simplification process could adversely affect your access to homoeopathic medicines within the UK. If the current proposals of the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency [MHRA] are endorsed by the government the following would occur:
You can stop this from happening by contacting your local MP and expressing your disapproval. This will be particularly effective if your MP sits on the Joint Committee on Statutory Instruments or is involved with Health or Pharmacy.
You can contact your MP by using the following link:

If you are emailing make sure you put ‘Medicines Act consolidation 2012’ in the subject line, or if you are sending a letter you can head it ‘RE: Medicines Act consolidation 2012’.
There are some key points you should try to make. It is not necessary or recommended to include all the text suggested below. It is more important that you personalize your letter with your own views and experiences.
It doesn’t need to take you very long – in fact, try to keep the letter short (a page or less), and emphasize any points that are relevant to the particular MP – but your support is so crucial in helping to keep homoeopathic medicines freely available to everyone.
What you can do to stop this from happening
Write to your MP and tell him or her your views - especially if your MP sits on the Joint Committee on Statutory Instruments or is involved with Health or pharmacy.
We would like a small change to Section 10 of the proposed new Medicines Act to allow greater freedom to dispense remedies to practitioners and to also overcome the impracticle face-to-face issue.
It is anticipated that the new Medicines Act will be put before the Joint Committee on Statutory Instruments for approval in late May/early June for implementation in July, so your swift action is critical.
How to contact your MP
You can telephone the House of Commons Information Office on 020 7219 4272 and they will provide you with the name and contact details of your MP.
Or, if you prefer, go to the UK Parliament website Parliment U.K. - you just put in your postcode and it lists your MP's contact details
If you prefer to post your letter rather than send it online, you can write to them at: The House of Commons, Westminster, London SW1A 0AA.
Alternatively you can identify the name of your MP and send your message via the online site Write To Them which is an independent, charitable project to help you contact your elected representatives.
You can find out who sits on what committees by going to this website: Parliment U.K.
