Permalink Reply by DR. ARINDAM DUTTA on March 12, 2011 at 12:33am Dear Kawsar,
The tongue looks like white coated, but not entirely. Coating is not there in central area, but both the edges are involved. The pink on the central area is not the discoloration but the continuation of the natural color of the tongue itself. So we can not tell it as centrally red. The appearence of the tongue is not mapped either.
So the inference is – the tongue appears as coated white on both the edges.
Let's look into Kent's repertory:
Pp.- 402
“....MOUTH / Discoloration / Tongue/ white.......
sides : Caust., cham., iod., kali-s.
right : Lob.
one : Rhus-t.
patches : Sang.......”
So our choice of rubric should be - “sides : Caust., cham., iod., kali-s.”
We should not make prescription on the basis of this particular rubric only, unless the other general level symptoms agree. As we are consulting Kent's repertory we must obey Kent's philosophy regarding the “evaluation of symptoms” as well. Otherwise it will lead a wrong road.

Permalink Reply by DR. ARINDAM DUTTA on March 12, 2011 at 12:43am Yes Dr. Anand, what you have told is true. If we can convert the useful repertories in pictorial formats they will be very helpful references in day- to- day practices.
All the pictures used in the post are not mine. Some of them I have collected from internet.
