Wet Macular Degeneration

I have had an experience with advanced wet AMD for a few months. Included the tissue salts as well the constitutional homeopathic remedy. I would like to learn more about your experience with wet macular degeneration which is the more severe type of AMD.

There are two basic types of macular degeneration: "wet" and "dry." Approximately 10-15% of the cases of macular degeneration are the "wet" (exudative) type.

In the "wet" type of macular degeneration, abnormal blood vessels (known as choroidal neovascularization or CNV) grow under the retina and macula. These new blood vessels may then bleed and leak fluid, causing the macula to bulge or lift up from its normally flat position, thus distorting or destroying central vision. Under these circumstances, vision loss may be rapid and severe.

What the Patient may see—

With the "wet" type, the patient may see a dark spot (or spots) in the center of their vision due to blood or fluid under the macula. Straight lines may look wavy because the macula is no longer smooth. Side or "peripheral" vision is rarely affected. However, some patients do not notice any such changes, despite the onset of neovascularization.(1.) Therefore periodic eye examinations are still very important for patients at high risk.

Macular degeneration can be treated homeopathically just like any other dis-ease . The constitutional approach works best. The diet is very important in general. Including any other alternative therapy helps.

Here are some specific rubrics I used working on a case of Macular degeneration :

It's been a couple of month since I started working on that case of mucular degeneration. My approach so far has been constitutional . Also, have included tissue salts : Calc-Fluorica -the tissue straightener; Calc-phos.- the cell builder; Kali-phos. - nerve nutrient; Nat-mur -the fluid distributor. Also, am considering some additional tissue salts like Ferr-phos; Kali-sulph; Sil.,.. There is noticeable constitutional amelioration in general, .When it comes to a chronic dis-ease the healing process requires some time. It is obvious in that case of wet amd and will be sharing with you my further experience. Let me thank you for your interest.

Thanks for reminding it. Actually, it was the most important rubric I did use first. Distortion - was very often used through the whole interview, leading me to the center of the case and the miasmatic

Hello Dr. Seniya, Is it your own problem or the problem of a patient? I am also a victim of this age related macular degeneration. ( In fact Three of my sisters have advanced stage of this problem). I got my vision checked up for central non visibility and distorted lines. The eye surgeon said nothing can be done. I took a combination homeo remedy called "Scar Tissue" about two years back. and slowly my vision has improved. The line distortion is also reduced. I have taken only two doses of the medicine. This is available in India as Shivananda homeo remedies. (I do not have exact name at present). The medicine is suposed to remove scars on tissues, which is the problem, as, the retina has a central scar I believe. This is my experience. In my case there is no inflammation. I would like to add that I had a BP of 230/160 untreated about 30 years back, which I was not aware of. I had, fortunately rupture of blood vessels in the eye with accumulation of blood. The result was that a white cloth was looking yellow. I started medication and the problem was solved. But the scar might have started at that time.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience which is very useful in this particular case I have been working for a couple of months so far and It is not my own problem. There is already a little improvement in the vision going with the constitutional remedy and would say considerable amelioration in the totality of symptoms. There is very deep mismatic picture as well have worked on at the same time. Will be sharing with you the whole case details as soon as the time for that comes and I do hope to be soon.
