Creating Waves of Awareness

Hello to all!  As a non-homeopath professional, I thought I would start a thread on this book, which seems to be designed for the layperson to use.  It discusses many first-aid and other acute situations and I like his organization and presentation of the matter.  A review at the time of need can easily distinguish the right remedy to use.

One situation that occurred since obtaining the book involved the appearance of swollen ankles, not caused by injury.  The "herbalist" part of me knew it was related to kidneys and so I already knew the right herbal combination to use (which in this case, along with reiki/energetic healing and elevation, was an infusion of juniper berries, parsley and goldenrod, since these were on-hand and very effective).

But to locate the swollen ankle issue in the book was a bit on the problematic side.  A layperson may not know that swollen ankles can be a kidney issue.  I updated in pen in the index area in case I ever need to reference this area again in a hurry (or even better if someone else in my home needs this info).

Still, I find this book valuable to have on-hand, and hope to assemble a useful, wide-spectrum remedy kit that is individualized toward our needs to the extent possible.  I also like how he has directions on extending a remedy in a pinch for what could be termed an epidemic (and in fact the process of creating remedies is rather fascinating to me anyway).

The next book(s) for me will discuss the deeper levels of homeopathic healing, through constitutional remedies and chronic issues - my healing work seems to be going in this direction more, not only as a homeopathic patient myself (and the self-study during this time has been extremely revealing), but as a possible additional tool in my proverbial occupational toolbox.  I am very intrigued by the sensation method mentioned on this website, and feel it is a close "match" to the way I do healing - and it is even nice to know there is an actual science behind this.

Thank you for allowing me to share my experience here - I look forward to hearing from professionals' opinions of this book.

I have an update on a recent referencing of this book.  Perhaps I ought to call this the "accidental homeopath" post!  I have a friend who was living in Philadelphia that decided to move to Austin, TX and "start over" after being a caretaker of her mother for many years until her death, and even 3 more years caring for another lady in their family before she went to a home.  She wanted to live for herself and was suffering from what I thought to be chronic grief.  She had seen a homeopath who had given her 30c of Ignatia before she left Philadelphia.  My recent studies of the Ignatia type didn't really "match" my friend.  Sure some of the symptoms seemed the same, but I was confused.  My friend said her first dose took the "edge" off but after that, the future doses were not working.

I decided to get the book again, and grief was indeed well cross-referenced.  One of the remedies absolutely caught my eye and pulled me in - Cocculus!  It described my friend nearly exactly!  At that point, I decided to do some more research on this remedy online, only to receive more and more confirmation.  I am a pendulum dowser and I decided to double-check for her, and I received a very strong "yes" response!  So she could only get 30c of Cocculus at her local store.  She is finding a new homeopath but in the meantime really needed to start processing and I taught her another way to take this since the pendulum had chosen 200c as the ideal potency.  She is building up the 30c slowly toward this, and meanwhile taking doses in water.

My other two lay homeopathic books are much older books (from the early 1990's) and did not cover this remedy.  I am so glad to have had this book as a reference now!  Thank you Alan V. Schmukler!

dear Lisa. Thank you for presenting your story. It is important for people to know that ignatia is only ONE remedy that covers the grief state. Your investigation into homeopathy shows so much promise. Blessings, Debby

Thank you so much Debby! :-)  Indeed, I am quite likely to enroll in deeper homeopathic studies this Spring, and I also thought this was a good confirmation.  I realize I did not approach this in what would likely be termed as a "classical homeopathic" approach and wish to learn these techniques in any case.  I am glad I have developed through other healing arts a highly-tuned intuitive sense.  I believe that in the long run this can only help me, as well as others! :-)
