Please let the group know what points were made in the presentation so we learn what works and what doesn't to pass official expectations.

With so many thousands of homeopaths in Pakistan, is this form of medicine respected by the population and government institutions?

How many schools train homeopaths?

Are there many homeopathic hospitals?

What certification and degrees are given to graduating student of study programs?

Please tell more.

This system of treatment is apporved by the government and its first phase was launched in Punjab Province in Pakistan which is the largest populated area in pakistan and under the Punjab Health Department under Punjab Government, there are more than 350 official homeopathic dispensaries lying in routine allopathic infrastructure of government hospitals,all health care facilities in rural,tehsil and district level are entitled for post of Homeopathic Doctor and Homeopthic Dispenser and relevant staff and these departements within allopathy infrastructure of other health care providers are most popular and our homeopathic doctors has same provisions as allopathy doctors use like we can ref for lab tests,x-rays,ultrasound,etc.
Our homeopthy department at each hospital has independant role and all data keeping is recorded on registers and monthly reports are submitted to government like other health care providing facilities.

Main hurdles in awarding equivalency to 4 year Diploma of Homeopathy to BSc, is that the Scheme of Studies is not approved by the Ministry of Education.

The NCH officials are of the view that NCH was established by an Act of National Parliament and it is the sole authority for the homeopathy matters in Pakistan. However, the Ministry of Education officials told the learned council that as a matter of Law, NCH should approach the concerned authority to get approved scheme of studies first. After approval of scheme of studies and inclusion of some additional subjects, one should approach the Higher Education Commission for equivalency.

The case is not simple as it seems above.

In fact, first two years of this Diploma Program require equivalency to FSc.( 12 years of Education in Pakistan ). There is an authority namely Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) which holds the authority for awarding equivalency upto 12 years of Education. All the Chairmen of Federal and Provincial Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education in Pakistan, are the members of this Committee.

With the efforts of Homeopaths in Pakistan, the case was put up in the last meeting of IBCC. However, the Committee did not agree for awarding the equivalency in partial ( Since the Diploma is of 4 years and not two years).

I understand that the 12 years of study are like US equivalent of elementary, middle and high school when the student graduates with a diploma. Afterwards students here enter either vocational/technical school or college/university for four years of study. Then receive a Bachelor Diploma. Then the student goes to post graduate study for a Masters degree in an area of specialization. Or they could go to Medical school. After the Masters degree there is a PhD program - Doctor of Specialization - which is not the same as a Medical physician. The physician after 4 years study goes on to Residency and specialization programs as Intern in a hospital. Surgeons and other specialties go on for even more years of study.

I believe that a homeopath can be excellent without working in a hospital and many of the courses required by a Medical physician. I feel the homeopath can be trained with a special course of study and understanding of the nature of mankind, plus study of organon, themes, materia medica, posology, history, and the fundamentals of homeopathy, nutrition, stress reduction and many of the developing methods of case intake. General courses in anatomy, physiology, disease, emergency care, etc would be a requirement for degree status. Clinical practicum with supervision is essential.

The many certificate programs teach so much valuable information for determining the 'similimum' which really is the goal in partnering with each client. It is the ability of the homeopath to recognize the remedy to suit the patient. So many homeopaths have their own unique style and mix of healing approaches, which I find all valid and helpful in healing.

Latest updates about status of homeopathy in Pakistan

On the direction of the learned council, a Committee of homeopaths under the guidance of Dr Mas, finalized the revised " Scheme of Studies" in line with the format provided by the Ministry of Education, Curriculum Wing.

This revised Scheme of Studies was handed over to National council of Homeopathy Pakistan (NCH). The new President of NCH, Dr Javed Hussain Shah, according to reliable resources, has forwarded this Scheme to Ministry of Education for approval.

It is really a great news for all the homeopathic community in general and for Pakistani community especially that Government of Pakistan, Ministry of Education has finally approved the long standing request of Homeopathy Doctors of Pakistan for granting equivalency to 4 years DHMS as BSc. First two years will be treated as FSc and final two years as BSc. In this connection, the Ministry has issued instruction to concerned department.

To upgrade the status of homeopathy and homeopathic professionals in Pakistan, this decision will be regarded as mile stone.
I am thankful to all the members here at HWC who encouraged us and provided their valuable suggestions and comments.
