Creating Waves of Awareness
The case I am going to relate here is a hopeless case in which I failed to do some fine work because (1) the patient did not take the medicines seriously regularly I prescribed. (2) Perhaps I could not prescribe the most indicated medicine, so that the patient could not gain full confidence in homoeopathy; though he took the treatment I prescribed but half heartedly.
The patient developed a cancerous sinus on his nose in 1994 from which sanious matter used to exude and crust used to form on it. The cancer gradually started eating the bone of the nose around it and thus started spreading in circumference and depth; when the spreading cancer had eaten about half of the nose (bone and flesh). The couple decided for surgery, and they sought help in this respect at Post Graduate Institute of Medicine at Chandigarh. The carious part was removed surgically in mid 2004 and the nose was formed taking skin from his forehead.
The cancer regressed again in 2005. The patient again visited the Institute where Biopsy was done on 14th September 2005, the Report says:
“Section shows an ulcerated stratified squamous lining epithelium. Underneath, a tumor is seen, the cells which are arranged in nests, which show vague peripheral pallisading pattern. The cells are relatively monomorphic with oval nucleus, fine chromatin and scanty cytoplasm.
Features are those of a basal cell carcinoma. The tumor reaches one lateral resection margin and deep resection margin.
Diagnosis: Nose – Basal cell carcinoma.”
After the surgery the wound on forehead healed gradually and the newly formed nose remained well for a few months. But after a few months the excoriation again started relapsing, first the nostril got blocked with crust and scabs and then the excoriation started spreading on out side of the nostril. His wife asked me if I could do some thing. I gave some medicines but the ulceration and necrosis continued to eat and spread in to the palate and the upper jaw with offensive stench. Then a stage came when the patient started getting inflammatory swelling in upper jaw and there formed thick white worms in the inflammation. This all was very painful and distressing for the patient and worrisome to his wife. The Government hospital refused to admit him. So he was admitted in a private hospital who claims to treat and cure cancer cases. There he was given courses of Antibiotics and other medicines and application of some herbal paste. The conditions in the hospital were miserable and the costs exorbitant.
So the wife of the patient brought him back home and again requested me to do some thing for him. In June 2009 after lot of thinking I suggested her to apply the paste of the leaves of Basil or Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum) and Neem (Azadiracta Indica) externally on the wound; and for internal use I started giving him Ocimum sanctum 30 t. d. s. Later I started giving occasionally a dose of Syphillinum 200.
This formula worked.
Though the necrosis of the upper jaw has not stopped totally but the formula worked (1) the pace of necrosis slowed down. (2) No worms formed in the wounds again in more than fourteen months. Although the patient feels pain on and off some times quite severe. In such circumstances he takes some pain killers to alleviate the pain.
Ocimum sanctum (tulasi) SYN. Vishnupriya, Tulasi, First Prover : Dr. Mure Divya, Bharati, Krishna-mul, N.O.: Labiatae. Kala Tulasi, Shiva Tulasi, Holy Basil.
Clinical
Asthma; catarrh; cold; cough; fever: Dr. Mure reports specific for the worm affections.
In Hindu culture the Tulsi has been portrayed as having wonderful healing properties. It has been used for septic conditions of various kinds in folk medicines. Therefore I thought to give a try in the above case. And it has helped as expected. No worms formed in the past fifteen months, i. e. from June 2009 to this day September 24, 2010.
CARROLL DUNHAM, M.D. 1865 says:
While the materia medica, in the books, is a simple record of observed facts, in the mind of the practitioner it becomes a subject of reflection, of comparison and of hypothetical reasoning, which will be more or less just and valuable according to the measure of the practitioner’s natural ability and to his intellectual culture. For, as has been already said, "The significance of a fact is measured by the capacity of the observer."
Some of the sensations and symptoms of Syphilinum:
· As if a worm in tooth.
· As if bones were sawed.
· As if bitten by bugs.
