Fishbone Stuck In Throat
A boy in his teens, our neighbor and relative, got a fish bone stuck in his throat while enjoying a meal of fish and rice. He was brought to me at about five in the evening in much distress.
The fish bone seemed to have been lodged deeper in the throat near the opening of esophagus. The remedial measure of swallowing a mouthful of flat bread without much chewing had been tried albeit unsuccessfully.
I remembered a similar case some years ago, when a girl of about same age had the same trouble. At that time a single dose of SILICIA 12X had worked wonders and the fish bone was dislodged after four hours.
This time I gave SILICA 200C, four globules the size of poppy seeds, dry on the tongue. The advise given was to rest and try to sleep and wait.
Nothing happened in three hours. The same situation after five hours. I started to think, "Perhaps I should have given the remedy in 12X." As I had to go out for two hours, I left 3 tablets if SILICIA 12X with instructions to take the dose; if the first dose does not work after a further wait of one hour.
When I returned, the good news awaited that the fish bone had dislodged after six hours and the boy was able to extract it with his fingers as it was a big piece. There was some minor bleeding at the time of removal. I gave the boy a dose of Arnica to take care of bruising of the tissues.
The second dose was not needed at all.
The questions remains: Would the 12X potency if given instead of 200th acted more quickly?
THE CERTAIN FACT: If the remedy is right it will act in low as well as high.
