We are ready to hire a professional editor to help us go through the 100+ hours of footage. Three months of editing will give us a rough cut of this film!! We are also in the process of hiring an animator.

Laurel Chiten's new film about homeopathy is about half way done and she needs your support to complete it. Let us help her get the word out about homeopathy. The film follows patients going through homeopathic treatment for variety of physical, mental and emotional conditions, including autism, addiction, depression, Parkinson's, and MRSA. It also covers recent efforts to bring homeopathic treatment to people in Haiti and the successes homeopathy has already had in Cuba.

The film will include an explanation of homeopathy -- its philosophy, science, controversy, and rich history -- and a portrait of its founder, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. Laurel has until November 28th, 2010 to reach this goal of $5000. If they don't reach the goal, they don't get any of the money at all from backers.   HWC donated at a previous fundraising campaign on the initial filming. Now we want to push them over to completion. Let's get behind this film because it will send out such a resounding message to the world.

OLDER MESSAGES: DEAR HWC MEMBERS

WE HAVE BEEN INVITED TO HAITI to film homeopath, Ingrid Schutt and Homeopaths Without Borders in Port-au-Prince. We are very honored by this invitation and strongly believe that this experience will allow us to show the far-reaching and powerful impact of homeopathy and how it is being used to treat thousands of Haitians with infections, emotional trauma and disease. Below are the two stories we plan to follow:

Ingrid Schutt, a well-known homeopath, lives in Montreal. Her recently deceased father was Haitian and lived in Haiti. Ingrid is returning to aid and connect with her community in its devastation. We will follow her from Canada back to Haiti to treat patients and help set up an orphanage in her fathers home.

Homeopaths Without Borders (HWB) We will document their daily operation and care of a variety of patients. HWB plans on setting up a permanent homeopathic clinic in Port-au-Prince. They have already treated over 2000 patients in Haiti.

This is an important part of this film – to show how homeopaths often travel to disasters areas around the world to volunteer their services. It will also show how homeopathy can offer inexpensive and immediate healing in emergency situations.

We are hoping to raise funds to cover our costs for this trip. (And, if we get donations quickly, we might bring down more crew!) By donating, not only are you helping the film project, but are also helping to support the economy in Haiti.

ABOUT THE FILM
From Within, Without follows a little boy with autism, Lucas, and his family as they seek homeopathic treatment. Watch the trailer and see for yourself what a great film this will be. The film is not just about autism but will follow a variety of cases and explore homeopathy from different angles.

SYNOPSIS
Can the ancient form of medicine, Homeopathy, cure a boy with a devastating modern day illness? Can it be the answer for depression? Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? Asthma? From Within, Without focuses on this mysterious and controversial treatment that many people have decided to trust.
The film unfolds like a mystery as we follow patients from around the country going through homeopathic treatment for physical, mental and emotional conditions. From Within, Without brings alive the rich history of homeopathy, the science and the philosophy. Ultimately, the film illuminates the connection between emotions and illness, mind and body.

The Characters:
The story of a mother desperately trying to save her son and a doctor passionately trying to save humanity. The journey of a boy with autism.

Nancy Korn had one dream in life–to become a mother. She and her husband Evan wanted a big family. After six years of trying, they finally got pregnant and gave birth to a healthy little boy, Lucas. His development was normal. But when he approached his first birthday, Lucas began to act strangely. By age two, Lucas was diagnosed with autism. Nancy and Evan were devastated.
They set out on a mission to bring their son back. Finding few answers in conventional medicine, they turned to alternative therapies. Some helped. Nothing cured. Lucas was still autistic. He still could not talk. One day, Nancy read about a doctor in Los Angeles who was using a centuries-old medical system, homeopathy, to treat autism.

The physician, Dr. Luc De Schepper– affectionately known as ‘Dr. Luc’ -- is a medical doctor, licensed acupuncturist and homeopath, an author of 15 books, and a respected teacher and lecturer worldwide. Despite his impressive credentials, the method—and the doctor—were controversial. But Nancy had a feeling. A week later she and her mother-in-law found themselves flying across the country to meet with Dr. Luc. After starting homeopathic treatment, Lucas begins to improve. The film follows their story over the next year to see if Lucas becomes free of his autism.

While my former films Twitch and Shout, The Jew in the Lotus, Twisted, and Touched helped raise awareness and changed attitudes, this film will not only educate, but could potentially save lives. In our present health care crisis homeopathy provides an inexpensive alternative that people need to know about. And for all of you who might be skeptical about homeopathy, I ask you to believe in me as a filmmaker, and believe in the importance of telling a true story, even if it challenges conventional medicine notions of what is and isn't possible. Homeopathy was invented over 200 years ago, and it is still being practiced all over the world. Isn't that something worth looking at?

Through these studies both my grandson and great nephew were saved from the ravages of vaccine damage with the use of homeopathy. Education of the public is key as well as health care providers. As an RN, I was so amazed with how homeopathy helped me with a health issue 10 years ago, that I sought out to study with Dr. Luc. I have been fortunate to share the bounty of that knowledge with family, friends and the public and watch how their lives and health have been changed for the better. They in turn have shared the knowledge of homeopathic medicine with others. Once you understand the philosophy of homeopathy and that it was once a successful part of our health care system in the U.S. (1 out of 4 MD's were homeopaths at the turn of the last century), you cannot help but rally for the return of this most honorable, effective and sustainable system to our medical schools, hospitals, doctors' office and communities. Restoring homeopathic medicine to our health care system would be true health care reform.This film will go a long way in making that dream possible saving the lives of our children and the health of our nation.

Comment by Dr. MAS on January 6, 2010 at 11:12pm: I am performing as an actor since the time of 10th grade education. I have the experience of giving direction for making drama on stage. I have also prepared few documentary movies. My experiences tells me that if you will enroll famous homeopaths in your picture like ‘Dr. Luc’ or any one else as actor, the film will not come up with true expression of homeopathy. The reason is that it will become an advertisement film of Dr. Luc and not for the promotion of homeopathy. You need to take professional actor to play the role of homeopathic doctor.

Let me give you an example, I was asked to make documentary film of a college. The college was established before Indo-Pak pre partition. Today college enjoys high status. When work on movie was in progress, every one had desire to part of that movie so that his/her name should be register in the film forever. As a result, the documentary was remained on screen for few days and college affiliated people were the viewers of that movie. Everyone was conscious to see his/her scene and showed no interest. The documentary also did not become a reference movie or ideal production that can be shown to public.

Then comes the professional, they put all original characters (college authorities) aside and produce a high quality movie, in which no original office bearer were involved. That movie did not show any impression of some kind of advertisement of any good lecturer or teacher or principal. Even the principal of the college was shown in that movie. In a scene where director was interested to take clips of class proceeding in that scene also teacher was not prominent. “A” grade movie was produced and everyone is still watching just like new entry of the year because viewers are not getting impression of advertisement.

I just give you a suggestion, the decision is in your hand. A professional director can understand my view point.

(Dr. Luc has since retired from practice after many years. Some other homeopath is following the case.) Lucas and his family and homeopathy are the central focal points. I happen to feel more moved to donate to this movie because these were the real people involved and not actors, but that's just my feeling. I just think it's a powerful way to get the word out to parents about homeopathy and how it might work for them.
