Good article, Dana. I only recommend allopathic anti-depressants for my patients when they have a certain set of symptoms that inhibits other forms of treatment. These include major changes in sleep or appetite, plus lack of energy to the extent that one cannot perform activities of daily living (hygiene, simple housework, etc.), and of course active suicidal ideation. As your article notes, the more severe the symptoms, the better the SSRI's and SNRI's work. Having brought the level of functioning back up to a level at which participation in treatment is once more possible, then psychotherapy and the use of homeopathic or flower remedies is preferable. We dispense with the allopathic medicine as soon as it may be safely done. All those allopaths who are prescribing anti-depressants because a patient feels kind of "blue" are doing them a tremendous disservice. Most of them need healing of a different kind. As Carl Jung might say, they have become disconnected from their soulful qualities and need to reconnect with that. Homeopathic remedies, selected on the basis of the whole patient, is much more effective in supporting this kind of search. Even homeopaths should not overlook the benefit of psychotherapy in this process. The mere giving of a pill, any pill, is rarely sufficient for healing of these conditions, however helpful it may be. FRIENDS,In my humble opinion,Homeopathy has the potential of eliminating many Psychic ailments before they really get deep roots in brain and psychic system, if our knowledge is fine tuned to observe minute changes taking place in a case..
Deviation from the normal.. is illness..
many a times family accept.. illness as normal because that is what they had been seeing for a long time in some one.. e. g. aloofness, anger, undue happiness...too much or too less laughter or crying.. simple words used by family and friends to describe a person.. but these can open Pandora's box.. if investigated..
we need to count MIND symptoms and then Physical symptoms...
asylums are not required.. for ill persons... society needs to cage itself for not looking after... in due time and in the right manner... !!!!
