One more language dies in India- Cochin Creole Portuguese

With the death of Mr William Rozario, the last speaker of Cochin
creole Portuguese, one more language disappeared in India. A few
months back, with the death of a woman, Bo language was disappeared
in Andaman Nicobar islands. Now the researchers know only a few words
used in these languages!

Cochin creole Portuguese is a blend of Portuguese and Malayalam. It is different from Portuguese language spoken in other places.

Like several species of endangered plants and animals, world is facing the
death of several cultures and languages. Now the question arises, who
is responsible for this? Is it a natural process or an after-effect
of modernization? Is it due to our ignorance?

Dear Rafeeque,
Thanks for sharing the information!!
Actually, we are heading towards our self-destruction through the process of so-called "modernization".

I am sending this link for your further info on the language-

The trend away from individual identity to everything being integrated has been on-going. Instead of local indigenous cultural foods, clothing, interests, crafts, homes, etc. we learn from others and take on the persona of others in the outer wrappings.

Some ancient herbal medicines are lost, others found. Languages lost and others renewed, depending upon the people and their goals to save their heritage.

Like saving seed banks and other projects to help people remain as they are found. This goes along with a recent story about malaria and how native animals and people can be infected with viruses and bacteria from outsiders who enter new areas.
