Also I got this doubt. Here in Brazil we use lactose lactose (milk sugar) comes from Holland. They say it's better. A once bought a lactose produced here in Brazil ... Simply failed to work with her because it was yellow, thick. The tablets were in bad aspect .. We had to return to the manufacturer. The Netherlands is 100% pure and quality much higher.

These are great questions. There must also be remedies made with non-lactose sugar and pellets from other countries. Please edify us.

I was also thinking that the base pills used in homeo medicine used as medicine carriers are made out of milk sugar. The other day I was reading homeo medical college text book ( THE PRINCIPLES AND PHILOSOPHY OF HOMEOPATHY, published by the Indian Institute of Homeopaths - Kumbhakonalm. 1939 1st publication). In the chapter of Pharmaceutics, it is written ..Quote Pilules and Globules: These consist of a porous non-medical substance which is generally prepared out of pure cane sugar and such pills are medicated by saturation with any remedy desired. As a matter of fact they are very convenient to dispense and if kept in well-corked phials, retain their medicinal value for years. unquote I will try to find from some manufacturing firm to find out if pills are made out of cane sugar also.

Some countries are famous for particular items! The climate, culture, tradition, marketing skills etc are responsible for this. Holland is well know for milk products in terms of quality and quantity. The cows and she buffaloes in Holland are very healthy and yield a quality milk. Since their milk production is more, they have many sac lac producing industries. Sac lac is also used by modern medical pharmacies. The vehicle used in their tablet is sac lac. They also prefer the Holland or US product. Recently, there was a hike in the sac lac price, hence, I purchased a cheaply available product. Believe me, within a few days, it lost its white color and softness. I also noticed a greyish discoloration due to some fungus. Thereafter I use only the Holland product. If the quality is good,we should not bother about the price. After all, the amount of sac lac given to one patient is very small. We also increase our consultation charges periodically, hence the increased price will not affect seriously!

To my knowledge sugar of milk (Lactose) is only manufactured in Holland or Itly and not in USA. Itly and Holland group are merged together and after that the price of lactose gone up. As it is not prepared in Pakistan, therefore, we are helplessly using imported sugar of milk. That is the first answer of your first question.

One technical information I want to share with you. If you analyze lactose with homeopathic potency, it will give positive steroid test. I mean to say, for checking steroid, the lactose give positive test although it does not contain any steroid but those CT (Confirmative Test) which are used to find steroid from any medicines, if lactose is use then the test would mostly comes positive that is why homeopaths are blamed of using steroid.

Few people are mixing starch with lactose. So be careful.

Sac lac from USA is also available.

Sac lac and globules respond positively to steroids. This is actually a false positive test. They usually use colorimetric method using Tetrazolium blue salts. If steroid is present in the sample, there will be formation of a highly colored Farmazan. This is due to the reducing properties of steroids. But lactose, sucrose and alcohol also show same reaction due to reducing properties. Apart from that, there are some natural steroids present in the plant products. All these can give a false positive result. Hence the most reliable tests for steroid detection are UV absorption, T L Chromatography, and Liberman buchard.

Thanks a lot to all of you for these very usefull informations.
Dr.Rafeeque , you wrote somewhere about your experience with Bio. tabs made in Kolkata ,which were very soft . Your information was absolutly right & well judged. I am also experiencing these differences. Now my question related sugar of milk is still incomplete .
Actually a "BASIC" difference between Sugar of milk From USA/Holland & other countries is the main answer of my question.
In India remedies made with non-lactose sugar are not available but pellets,globules are easily available & frequent in use by all of us with proper result.

Sugar of milk is only made by Goat's milk(skimmed off i.e. Fat removed) not by 'The cows and she buffaloes.
First they prepare Cheese from Goat' s
milk then the remaining part provide us --
1-lactose(sugar of milk)
It is first available in crystal form & after pulversing & refining we found
fine powder of sugar of milk..

Thanks to Dr Ravindra for the correction. My pharmacy text book is kept inside the cupboard. I feel, I should read it again, or else I will make such mistakes!

I feel, the medicine given in plain sac lac powder acts better than globules! Sac lac is free from whiteners and gum. Even in globules, some pharmacies are adding whiteners and gum. I use globules and sac lac tablets only for giving placebo.

Sugar of milk :-- Goat's milk is taken ,when it is allowed to skimmed off,after the cream has been settled.By this process the fat portion of the milk will be removed .
The protein portion known as caseinogen is removed by adding HCL.
The remaining is Whey(Ph-6.2) is maintained by mixing alkali residue & heated in a broad vesels.
The water contents evoporates & sugar of milk is left in the form of crystals ...
