Us versus Them

Previously I mentioned one arm of the campaign against alternative medicine: the ongoing public relations campaign that plants slanted articles in the media. The second arm of the campaign is the pro-science community. This community enjoys attacking anything that they think is anti-science. Intelligent Design is one of their targets and, unfortunately, so is alternative medicine. What's evident here is the "us versus them" mentality. I believe this mentality is the most destructive force in the world today. The anger that drives it is like a drug. At first it seems empowering and enlivening, but the end result is only destruction. I try to not fall into the opposite error of allopath bashing. All systems of medicine have their place and if a physicians only mission is to cure, then curing this rift between the different systems of medicine is also part of the job.
